TARGA Cavalcade

24th of August, 2021

The Cairns public will be treated to an amazing array of machinery with the route for the TARGACavalcade revealed as TARGA Great Barrier Reef returns to Tropical North Queensland from September 3 to 5.

Following on from its incredibly successful introduction at last year’s event, the Cavalcade (see attached map) will set off from Cairns city and trek north toward the airport before heading inland to capture key northern suburbs.

The route will embrace a wide sweep of northern Cairns that will see the stars and cars, under police escort, embrace Aeroglen, Stratford, Freshwater, Kamerunga, the historic Redlynch before concluding at Brinsmead.

The Cavalcade is scheduled from 3.30pm-4.45pm on the afternoon of Friday the 3rd of September.

TARGA CEO Mark Perry said the Cavalcade had connected the Cairns community to the motorsport event and was a highlight for both the competitors and the public with around $12 million worth of high-performance vehicles cruises through the suburbs.

“The Cairns public turned out in their thousands last year asthey lined the route in a huge show of support for TARGAthat defied the COVID-19 shutdowns across the country,” he said.

Release of the route follows finalisation of the course for TARGA Great Barrier Reef which acts as the opening round of the Motorsport Australia TARGA Championship. The Championship also embraces TARGA High Country in north-eastern Victoria set for November 12-14 and the showpiece TARGA Tasmania which will assume a new date from March 8-13 next year for its 30th anniversary.
