Ullrich holds commanding lead in Shannons Classic

There has been no change at the top of the leaderboard after Day 4 in the Shannons Classic class at Targa Tasmania.

There has been no change at the top of the leaderboard after Day 4 in the Shannons Classic class at Targa Tasmania.

Peter Ullrich in his 1963 Jensen CV8 leads by one minute and 3 seconds over Leigh Achterberg, and even after the discovery of a cylinder head problem earlier today, he still leads comfortably.

“When we left Burnie this morning, we discovered we had a cracked cylinder head,” Ullrich said.

“We’ve managed to get enough chemicals into the engine to keep us going today, so we’re hoping we can hang on.”

Achterberg did make up some time on TS22 at Edith Creek, posting the fastest time of the stage in his 1982 Porsche 944.

Paul Freestone remains in third place, still two minutes 55 seconds behind Ullrich, the same time difference as yesterday.
