Ullrich leads Shannons Classic after Day One

After finishing runners-up last year, Peter and Sari Ullrich have begun their 2017 Targa Tasmania campaign impressively, opening up a lead of almost two minutes after the opening day in Shannons Classic.
Team Ullrich led by just over a minute after the opening five stages, and following the lunch break in St Helens, were able to increase that margin over the final two stages of the day.

With challenging weather conditions to contend with, Ullrich was pleased with the car’s performance.

“The day has been surprisingly good, and the car has been remarkable,” Ullrich said.

David Gilliver in a 1979 Ferrari, holds down second place, with Richard Woodward in a Holden Monaro well in contention, just eight seconds further back in third.
