Marshalls on track for back-to-back TSD wins

Having led from the opening stage on Monday, Darryl and Peter Marshall continue to dominate the field in TSD Trophy, opening up a lead of 67 points.

Incredibly, the Ford Falcon Ute pairing only dropped five penalty points on day four of competition, and now look nearly certain to carry that lead to Hobart tomorrow.

It seems only bad luck can rob them of victory from here.

Second and third places remained unchanged over the run from Burnie to Strahan, as Chris Waldock and Christine Kirby in their Jaguar dropped a little time to the Porsche of Peter Lucas and Angela Coradine, but still look on track.

Steve Brumby and Allan Phillips are fourth in their Alfa Romeo, while Adrian Wilson and Quang Tran are up to fifth in their 2014 BMW M4.

At the other end of the leaderboard, Jim and Evan Kelly are battling on in their 2015 Audi RS6, but have dropped a whopping 1145 penalty points after day four.

“It’s just doing our homework which has got us to where we are so far,” Marshall explained.

“This year’s been even more enjoyable than last year when we won it – we did all the hard work before we got here – and it’s paying off obviously.

“Last year’s win was more of a fluke – it only happened on the last day. On the last day we drove the car hard and we won.

“This year’s all been about the prep – doing the homework and getting the car right.”
