Ullrich maintains comfortable lead in Shannons Classic

Peter Ullrich has increased his lead in Shannons Classic to over six minutes in his 1963 Jensen CV8.
Ullrich began the day four and a half minutes clear of Richard Woodward in a Holden Monaro, and was able to maintain a steady pace throughout the day to maintain his advantage.

David Gilliver was the mover on Day 5 in his 1979 Ferrari 308, overtaking Woodward to move into outright second.

Gilliver won the opening stage of the day in Strahan by 12 seconds, and with confidence growing, was able to maintain this position.

Gilliver finished the day eight seconds clear of Woodward, setting up what promises to be an enthralling final day.

“We have a six minute lead and we’ve sort of been in cruise mode a bit, Ullrich said.

“As crazy as it sounds, if you back off, you can crash if you lose concentration.  Our brake issues of the past couple days are gone now, so it’s all good.”

2.    David Gilliver/Nigel Shellshear, 1979 Ferrari 308 GTB, +6m24s
